From the beginning it has been Matis' emphasis to be in good contact with the people and businesses in Iceland. Currently Matis has 9 branches, including the HQ in Reykjavik, that are spread all across Iceland and make a great connection to the local operations and individuals that are the driving force in each town. The latest branch to open, at the end of the year 2010, was at Fludir, located in the southern part of Iceland.

In Hofn, much work has been done with crawfish producers and in Saudarkrokur, where one of the best biotechnology laboratory is located, Matis is the is the focus on fisheries, in Hofn the local food industry, especially farmers and their products,
