The University of Iceland

A BS curriculum in food science at the University of Iceland is conducted in part at IFL, and numerous IFL employees teach at the university. Permanent teachers in food processing and engineering have facilities at IFL. Numerous projects of graduate students in food science, industrial engineering and fisheries are done at and paid for by IFL.

IFL's agreement with the university provides that specialists at IFL see to teaching in the Fisheries Department (now called Resources Department) according to qualifications (lecturer - docent - professor) in certain fields related to fisheries studies (resource studies).

Holar University College

IFL's agreement with the university specifies that teachers and students at the school will work on research and development projects with IFL specialists, and that IFL will be involved in teaching at the school, especially regarding the guidance of student and research projects. An important part of the collaboration entails hiring a mutual employee who will work on research under the auspices of both parties to the agreement.

Fisheries Training Programme of the United Nations University

Teaching in the Fisheries Training Program of the United Nations University has become part of IFL's regular activities. It is the Marine Research Institute that has the responsibility and honour of running the school, but it is operated in close collaboration with IFL, the University of Akureyri Iceland and the University of Iceland. The school is operated under a special arrangement with United Nations University, and its financing is mostly part of Iceland's contributions to development aid. The school offers a six-month curriculum and training for professionals and specialists from developing countries and states of the former Soviet Union.
