The objective is to be the leading company in consultancy and dissemination of knowledge to the food and feed companies with the aim of strengthening their competitiveness. Stable quality and food safety provides continuous access to valuable markets and at the same time increases the reliability of the companies involved.  Work is conducted with individual companies and the services adjusted to their needs and wishes. 

Emphasis is placed on increasing Matís activities in dissemination of knowledge to development countries in the field of food and feed in co-operation with Icelandic International Development Agency and other bodies working in developmental aids. This is done by offering training activities and consultancies in specific projects in various development countries.  The serviced is based on Matís experience and knowledge in development projects from various developmental countries.

Matís is a partner with the United Nations University - Fisheries Training Program in Iceland and specialists from Matís conduct lectures and training activities in the program (UNU-FTP).
