Genotyping is the process of analyzing DNA for specific genetic markers such as microsatellites or SNPs in the genome of organisms. Genotyping has extensive uses in parental analysis for breeding of animals and fish as well as for tracing of origin (e.g of foodstuffs) and for monitoring and management of wild stocks. QTL (quantitative trait locus) are also analyzed. An example of QTL is the detection of positive or negative traits of the PrP gene in sheep for scrapie susceptibility.
We run High Throughput (HT) robotics laboratory and ABI 3730 sequencer for custom DNA sequencing and genotyping. With extensive process improvements including own DNA polymerase, we have developed a top quality genotyping service.
Matis offers DNA genotyping of animals, i.e. parental analyses and population analyses. Repeated microsatellate markers in the DNA of the organism are used as well as the DNA sequences of certain genes.
