The aim is to promote and strengthen aquaculture of marine species, with main emphasis on feed for selected species. Projects with emphasis on the effects of feed and feeding on quality and yield of final products as well as the effects of feed and environmental factors on growth and survival before and during the first feeding phase are conducted within the division.

Feeding costs are high in aquaculture and it is important to find ways to reduce feeding cost without diminishing development and health of the fish in the first stages of aquaculture. Feeds research is one of the key issues to consider for maximum quality and survival of larvae and juveniles.
