The goal of the research group is to operate a coherent database system for content and technical information on food products and animal feed. Projects dealing with the custody and dissemination of information on nutrition content and micro-organisms in food products are important part of operation together with information on their physical properties, processing and utilization. This emphasis has results in greater availability of important data on the wholesomeness of food and nutrition content.

ÍSGEM database on composition of food is accessible on Matís' where users can search for information on food composition for over 1100 types of food (www.matis.is).
