A new scope of opportunities is opened with this new facility. Scientists and other pioneers can take advantage of this facility to develop their ideas into real products. It is not surprising that Matís opens this facility in Saudarkrokur as the place is well known for its variety in food production.
The biotech unit is open to all and can be used as a developmental center for shorter periods at a time. The unit will serve as a stepping stone for innovative companies in the field of biotechnology and will be a crucial point for companies, scientists and other pioneers to shorten the time from point of idea to real time up-scale production.
The photos on the right are from the opening on November 18th and show when the Minister, Einar K. Gudfinnsson and the CEO of Matis, Sjofn Sigurgisladottir, cut the banner during the formal opening.
