Biofuel
Increasing emphasis is now on production of domestic alternative energy carriers which can replace the traditional fossil fuel used in the world today. The current grant proposal aims at investigating the feasibility of different routes towards biofuel production and develop the technology needed for such domestic fuel production.
The consortium behind the grant proposal consists of research groups at Icelandic universities and companies that have already done considerable research in the field and thus possess both ability and competitiveness for the current proposal. The role of Matis is to find and develop further ethanol producing cellulose degardin thermophiles.
