Novel bacteria from hot springs
The aim of the project is to describe novel bacterial species and publish in the international magazine International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology. For the last two years a number of bacterial strains have been isolated in environmental assessment projects, i.e. from Vonarskarð and Þeistareykir. Some of these are very interesting and we have confirmed that they are only distantly related to known cultivated species.
